This is the less favourable way of conceiving a room for music audition or recording; parallel walls and smooth ceilings cause static echo and frequency waves with several harmonics which in the end distort and disfigure the sound reproduced by the sources, creating something like a “sound garbage” that upsets and makes difficult the acoustic perceptibility. To listen to or to work with a sound mixture in these conditions may be a disastrous task and a vain attempt that electro acoustics will never solve. The fastest growing market for audio-fans is the home cinema. Bearing it in mind, the appearance of discrete digital formats “surround 5.1” raises many new questions for projects concerning these rooms.
